The Essene Tree of Life

LINDA GOODMAN

The ancient Essenes were a sect of Judaism that chose to live in the desert, away from cities and the Temples that they considered corrupt. They believed in a personal relationship with God, without the need of a special priest class. They lived communally, with complete equality between women and men. They believed they were chosen to bring the Christ consciousness to earth. Mary and Joseph, Jesus, John the Baptist, and Mary Magdalene were members of this sect.

The Essene Tree of Life offers a framework for daily practices that incorporate both the Divine Mother and Divine Father. The roots represent the 7 elements of Mother Earth and the branches represent the Father God in 7 angelic aspects. Each day's morning practice focuses on one cosmic element branch and the evening practice focuses on the corresponding earthly root element. The weekly and seasonal rotation of practices provides a path to spiritual balance and peace.
